Mangalore Kerala Samajam has reached the 65th year of its birth. Kerala Samajam came into existence on 20th March 1957 representing the Malayalee community of Mangalapuram. The Kerala Samajam was formed by the merger of three Malayalee organizations namely Malayalee Mahajanasabha, Kerala Club and Kerala Kala Samiti which existed in Mangalore at that time.
The Malayalee organizational activities in Mangalore began with the emergence of the Kerala Club, which came into existence in 1917. Only the initial staff had access to the club. But over time it changed and the employees also became a part of the club.
Nearing seven decades since its inception in the coastal belt of South Canara, Kerala Samajam has consistently strived towards its unwavering mission of uniting mankind, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, social status, and political inclinations. Through the years, this secular community has succeeded in uniting over 1500 like-minded individuals, driven towards a common goal of catering to the socio-cultural needs of the residing Malayali populace. A major objective of the Kerala Samajam is to promote and uphold universal brotherhood, mutual trust, and national integration, with a special focus on blending cultures.
With deep-rooted values of enriching cultures, Mangalore Kerala Samajam endeavors to foster a sense of fraternity between Malayalis and the diverse groups of native Mangalorean communities. By effectively bringing Keralan art and culture to Mangaluru, the Samajam aims to enrich the social and cultural landscape of the city, while ensuring that it is infused with the local culture, tradition, and traits. In the years to come, Kerala Samajam envisions knitting together a greater Malayali community of Mangaluru under one roof, pioneering new pathways of social service, and creating meaningful career opportunities for the community.
